Arizona Humanities partners with Heritage Square for meaningful discussion on veterans returning to civilian life

How can society help veterans transition from military culture back into mainstream culture? What are the obstacles faced by today’s veterans and how does our community handle issues like PTSD, education and job opportunities? Join us for the community conversation When Veterans Come Home, facilitated by Alberto Olivas.

Alberto Olivas serves as Director of the Center for Civic Participation (CCP) for the Maricopa Community College District. Olivas currently is board chairman for Kids Voting Arizona, and is on the boards of directors for Arizona Town Hall, Valley Leadership, and the Mesa Association of Hispanic Citizens. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Arizona State University, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, and is a graduate of the Tempe Leadership, Mesa Leadership, and Valley Leadership academies. He recently graduated in the inaugural class of the Flinn-Brown Foundation’s Arizona Civic Leadership Academy, and was awarded the “40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40” recognition by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
