On Friday, June 17th, 2016, the Arizona Humanities Board of Directors held its annual board retreat at the historic Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum in Miami, AZ.  Built in 1923 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum is a grand building with vaulted ceilings and wonderful displays of minerals and gems. The board received a guided tour with Executive Director Tom Foster, and several board members recalled special events and programs held there over the years.

The board gathered to review Arizona Humanities’ mission, vision and strategic goals for the future. The board, with the guidance of facilitator Anne White, Ph.D., CFRE, focused on leadership, and also on fundraising and advocacy.  “The retreat is always an opportunity to think about how to improve on what we do; we want to reach more Arizonans with excellent cultural programs, especially children and teens.” observed Executive Director Brenda Thomson.
