Project Civil Discourse

Project Info

Project Description

past program PCD logoSimilar to Resolana, civil discourse is engagement in conversation intended to enhance understanding.

From 2010-2013 Project Civil Discourse worked in collaboration with organizations from around the state to provide opportunities for the public to participate in trainings, forums, and special events that share, model and provide insight on collaborative problem-solving skills. The program goal was to widely share proven skills that can enhance and improve debate and discussion about the important issues that affect our future.

The mission of Project Civil Discourse was to advance society and improve the quality of life in Arizona, which prepared citizens to discuss potentially divisive issues, such as growth, education, healthcare, religion, race, immigration and transportation.   Democracy is dependent upon a responsible citizenry that can, and will, wrestle with these tough issues, without partisanship, while maintaining respect for the need to hear, understand and take into account different viewpoints.

This special initiative from Arizona Humanities now lives as a separate organization which still continues to hold programs and events.  For more information, please visit www.projectcivildiscourse.org.
