Arizona’s Energy Landscapes: Pasts, Presents, and Futures

The energy landscape of Arizona has evolved over decades to support over 7 million people across the state, integrating rural, Tribal, and urban needs to power thriving economies throughout the state. Arizona has evolved large scale energy policies and systems around coal, nuclear, and solar energy, making it one of the most energy-diverse states in the Southwest. However, the production and distribution of those systems had left indelible legacies on the landscapes and communities of Arizona. This talk will look at Arizona’s energy history, examining the values and policies that have shaped the energy landscape, and discuss how different stakeholders promote present-day goals and visions for Arizona’s energy futures.
