Orphan Trains to Arizona

February 6, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Orphan Trains to Arizona is a multimedia presentation that tells the story of the 250,000 orphans and unwanted children who were put on trains in New York between 1854 and 1929 and sent all over the United States to be given away. Through live music, historical fiction, oral history, and informal discussion, participants will learn about this little-known chapter of the largest child migration in American and Arizona history and the local legacies of their relocation.

This program is funded in part by a grant from Arizona Humanities.
