Grants News Update
Arizona Humanities Project Grants have been temporarily suspended until further notice.
March 30, 2017
Please note that Congress has not yet approved funds for the current fiscal year, November 1, 2016 through October 31, 2017. Â Supporting grant activities is important to us. Unfortunately we cannot award funds that we have not, and potentially may not, receive. We are temporarily suspending Project Grants until further notice. This suspension does not affect current grant awards in progress or past grants awarded. We will continue to support programs and grants to the extent that our current resources allow.
The National Endowment for the Humanities funding we receive is critical. These funds have enriched the lives of many people, and provided opportunities for cultural exploration, learning and civic engagement for families and children, teachers and students, veterans and others. These programs have also contributed to the economy and jobs here in Arizona. If you are curious about the incredible impact of the work that nonprofits do in Arizona, I recommend the attached report, Arizona Nonprofits: Economic Power, Positive Impact.
The value of these programs far exceeds the relatively small investment in preserving and honoring American traditions as reflected through our nation’s history, art, music and literature, to name a few. This is why we support funding the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts, and why our support has not waivered for the past 44 years. We will continue to seek Congressional support for these valuable programs, and hope that you will join us.
Sincerely,
Brenda Thomson
