Revealing History – A Look at Community Through Arizona’s Historical Newspapers

September 30, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Using headlines, editorials, advertisements, and photojournalism, Sativa Peterson of the State of Arizona Research Library will give a free, interactive presentation introducing attendees to Arizona’s historical newspapers. Look at old headlines to gain fresh perspective on news and events of today and discover how you can use historical newspapers to delve into your own community or family history. This presentation is made possible by the Arizona Humanities.

Over the past three years she’s helped the State of Arizona digitize over one hundred fifty thousand pages of historical newspapers and contributed content to Chronicling America, a national newspaper database hosted by the Library of Congress.
